Advanced Treatment & Prevention of Peri-implantitis – including hard and soft tissue augmentation
This course is suitable for dentists with some surgical experience.
This comprehensive hands-on workshop focuses on the prevention, diagnosis, and advanced surgical management of peri-implantitis. Participants will explore both non-surgical and surgical treatment modalities, with a critical review of current evidence and clinical outcomes.
Hands-on training will include resective and regenerative surgical techniques, incorporating various bone and soft tissue grafting materials. Emphasis will be placed on case selection, flap design, decontamination protocols, and augmentation procedures to restore peri-implant health/stability.
In addition, participants will learn to develop individualized maintenance and recall programs for implant patients, aiming to enhance long-term success and prevent disease recurrence.
Learning Outcomes:
- Understand the Etiology and Risk Factors of Peri-Implantitis
- Identify the biological, mechanical, and patient related risk factors contributing to peri-implant disease
- Apply risk assessment tools to evaluate and prevent implant complications
- Differentiate non-surgical and surgical treatment options
- Evaluate indications, limitations, and expected outcomes of non-surgical therapies vs surgical interventions in the management of peri-implantitis
- Perform surgical techniques for peri-implantitis management
- Gain hands on experience in resective and regenerative surgical approaches, including flap design, implant surface decontamination, and the use of bone and soft tissue grafts
- Select and handle grafting materials appropriately
- Understand the biological principles and clinical indications for various bone substitutes and soft tissue grafts used in peri-implant defect reconstruction
- Design maintenance and recall programs for Implant patients
- Develop customised supportive care protocols based on individual risk profiles to enhance long-term peri-implant health and reduce recurrence
