UNCLOGGING PROTOCOL FOR YOUR

AIRFLOW® MAX HANDPIECE

Daily Maintenance & Cleaning Protocol

Your AIRFLOW® MAX Handpiece may be subject to clogging. This may be caused by:

> Humidity in air-powder channel.
> Poor handpiece maintenance.

To prevent clogging, please follow EMS cleaning recommendations:

TO DO BEFORE EACH RE-PROCESSING (FB-358*)

1 Clean the water channel:
> At the dental chair, place the nozzle exit above the chair spittoon.
> Blow with compressed air through the water channel.

2 Clean your air-powder channel with Easy Clean:
> Introduce the Easy Clean into the AIRFLOW® MAX Handpiece.
> Rinse the air-powder channel with at least 20 ml of water using a syringe.
> Dry carefully the air-powder channel with compressed air.

HOW TO UNCLOG THE AIRFLOW® MAX HANDPIECE:

Prepare the following cleaning solution:
> Acetic acid 20% (liquid)
> A few drops (2-3) of your dental disinfection detergent (e.g. Neodisher® MediClean (Dr Weigert, Enzol® (ASP), ...

Method:
> Fill a glass with the above cleaning solution. Soak the AIRFLOW® MAX Handpiece until the plastic/metal interface.
> Put the glass in the ultrasonic bath1, filled with water.
> Set the temperature, if possible, at 50°C (122°F) and activate the ultrasonic power at your usual setting for approx. 15 min.
> Rinse the handpiece with tap water.
> Place again the handpiece in a new glass half-filled with distilled water.
> Repeat the ultrasonic process for approx. 3 min.

After this cleaning procedure, apply the usual reprocessing process (see Instructions For Use).

In case of any further issues with your AIRFLOW® MAX Handpiece, please contact your dedicated EMS Repair Center.

1 Ultrasonic bath is to be used only exceptionally when the water channel is clogged and the daily maintenance process is not effective. When used as regular reprocessing procedure, it may destroy the handpiece and your warranty will be void.
