Topics will include the latest research findings on the links between periodontitis and conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. Additionally, strategies for effectively communicating these connections to patients and implementing comprehensive care plans will be discussed.

Dr Rebecca Ellis, BDS(Distn), DCD(Perio)
Periodontist

Dr Rebecca Ellis graduated BDS (Distinction) from the University of Otago 2011 and then worked as a dental house surgeon in both the Hawkes’ Bay and Auckland before working in private practice in Auckland. In 2015 Rebecca moved to Melbourne to complete a three-year doctoral degree in Periodontology. During her training she was awarded an ITI research grant for preclinical research in implant dentistry. Her research interests include preclinical and clinical research in immediate implant placement and also guided bone regeneration. She is a fellow of the ITI and has previously co-directed the Auckland CBD ITI Study Club & Melbourne University Study Club. She is currently the ITI Australasian Section Chair.
Rebecca regularly presents locally & internationally on periodontics & implant dentistry. She is an adjunct senior lecturer at Charles Sturt University, NSW, Australia. Rebecca worked as a specialist Periodontist in full-time private practice at the Institute of Dental Implants and Periodontics in Auckland, New Zealand from 2017-2022. She has recently relocated to Sydney and is now working at Sydney Periodontics & Implant Centre.
